KOCH, G. (1992) The Richter-Scale of Blur.

October. 62 (Winter) pp. 133-142

This article examines Richter's approach to photography in comparison with those of Walter Benjamin and Siegfried Kracauer.

Koch derives an idea that you cannot deepen or expand perception of the world via the camera from Richter's statement "You do not see less, by looking at a field out of focus through a magnifying glass" (Jahn, 1989). Why is it so, if it derives subjective perception from the objective world? How the usage of the date in the capture to fictionalized, mocumentary work "Five phases of a transformation undertaken by Polke and Richter. The mountain range was transformed into a sphere for the duration of two hours on April 26, 1968" refers to Richter's usage of photography in his paintings. Do they work as traces of objectivity which trick the viewer?

This article examines differences between subjective and objective view/perception/world.
