MCGUIRE, R. (2014). Here.
New York; Random House LLC.
This is a graphic novel, narrating about the life of one piece of space/air ("the room" in the majority of the panels, but also a part of the forest, a part of the ocean, etc.) in time.
McGuire connects the history of his own family with the history of the Earth; he intertwines real/memorable events with things which could've had place and even things in the future which could never happen. How the book can tell a story or a number of stories without much text? How in telling the stories are involved such things as repetition, static scenes, composition, grid, character design, etc. How does the book come together in viewer's head?
This book connects one's personal and family memory with the history of the planet - this is a broad and interesting trick, which can be used in relation to the theme of ecology and why people should care about the planet. It is also an instrument to talk about different countries' past and history from different sides.
