Oxana Moroz examines key concepts of approaching the Past: nostalgia, retromania and retrotopia.

Moroz, referring to Svetlana Boym, states that nostalgia can appear only as a response to some trauma in history of a group (people of colour in America, LGBTQ+ community, Jews, etc.). What trauma had causes such a big nostalgic turn on a scale of a whole country (Russia); which traumas caused this call for nostalgia in different generations and how different traumas lead to different relations with the past?

This video touches quite actual themes in relation to global agenda. For example, in Russia both government and opposition often call each other "fascists", which in relation to the country's history is a huge moral and historical trigger; or the case with BLM and dismantling monuments of conquerors and slaveholders (together with a huge wave of resistance from the republicans) in States, etc.
